The Importance of Being A Community-Led Initiative

April 3, 2025

When products are grounded in extensive user research, it results in more effective roadmap development and product positioning.

This is what it means to be a community-led initiative: taking the time to have conversations with those who engage with the technology and programs on a daily basis.

Being a community-led initiative has allowed us to validate (or challenge) our assumptions, consider constructive feedback, and build better products that reflect the input we have received.

How We Approach User Research

  1. Organizing topic-focused research rounds to inform and validate our planned roadmap
  2. Iterating on our product development based on research results and bringing those updates back to our key stakeholders
  3. Identifying use cases derived from the research and incorporating them into our roadmap

MIG’s roadmap and products have been directly informed by conversations we have with tool developers, organizations, and key players across the political and movement tech - resulting in products and efforts that reflect the needs of our ecosystem.

We aim to continue our research to build products and solutions that make a meaningful impact on where and how data moves across our space.

If you are interested in engaging with us about your data movement experiences, or want to learn more about our user research approach, please reach out! We’re always building our roster for future research rounds, and we love connecting with the many thoughtful practitioners who do this work.
